A Deep Committment to Service

From its very founding as a family medicine residency in 1987, Hanover Family Physicians has been committed to serving the community by training doctors to care for families across Richmond and beyond. In addition to their core committment of training doctors, doctors at HFP have gone beyond the expected and volunteered nights and vacation time to serve. Doctors Lee Blackburn and Michael Petrizzi have volunteered their Friday nights to serve as team doctors for the football teams at Hanover and Atlee High Schools. Doctor Blackburn and physician assistants Leslie Parker and Emily Walker have served at a free clinic in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and doctor Houghton has volunteered his time to serve annually as a doctor at a free clinic in the Dominican Republic.

One of their largest committments to service is HFP's annual sports physical night. At the annual sports physical night, doctors volunteer their time to provide medical exams to allow students to particiapte in sports at local middle and high schools and donate all of the proceeds to the student's home school. Since 2003, Hanover family physicians has donated $75,000 to support athletics at Hanover County Public Schools through the sports physical night.
